The house of Louis Vuitton is bringing back the old West for the Autumn/Winter 2024 season. Following the preview showcase earlier this year, the collection will soon be unveiled on August 8 across all Louis Vuitton stores. The release coincides with another highly anticipated collaboration between the maison and Timberland, further echoing the American workwear theme for the winter season.
The American Workwear
The AW24 capsule retraces the origins of utility wear in the lens of vintage Americana, focusing on sophisticated versatility and unparalleled craftsmanship. Trucker jackets and coats are constructed in sandy brown tones, with leather appliqué motifs and bright turquoise embellishments to highlight the garments.
The collection also introduces the Keepall 50 Toolbox, the house’s workwear interpretation of the iconography. The bag mimics the form of an actual toolbox, with multiple exterior pockets and rivets decorating the natural leather. Accessories such as a flash and an engraved steel cigarette case accompany the wardrobe, transporting any LVers back to the old wild west.
Louis Vuitton x Timberland Capsule Collection
A classic American workwear is never complete without the right utilitarian boots, hence perhaps why Louis Vuitton turned to Timberland to collaborate on a special capsule.
The collaborative collection features LV 6-Inch, an iteration of the LV 6 in the form of a pair of boots. Crafted in Fiesso d’Artico — the house’s Italian shoe atelier — the boot sees variations across two distinctive designs and various adaptations, each created with Italian nubuck leather. The LV 6-Inch boot features a subtle monogram embossment for a touch of class, while still staying true to its workwear roots. Every pair is crafted with an insulation system and is seam-sealed to be waterproof, blending in functionality in inclement weather with the house’s aesthetic codes.
The collaboration also explores the classic 6-Inch silhouette, reinterpreting its form into ankle boots, ranger boots, as well as a pull-on mid boots. Each of these feature the rubber lug outsole, and is available in wheat-coloured brown hue or the classic monochromatic black. The star of each iteration is the small leather tag adornment, featuring a sleek branding of the American footwear brand to mark their joint capsule.
The highlight of the collection however, lies in the limited-edition Louis Vuitton 6-Inch Exceptional boots. Released in only fifty pairs, this 6-Inch ankle boot is crafted with premium supple waterproof Italian leather, complete with the classic Louis Vuitton monogram to grace the exterior. It is not a Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton if it is not extraordinarily classy: each pair features an embellished Louis Vuitton tongue initials in shiny 18K gold, along the phrase ‘THE SUN IS SHINING ON US’, to quote the Men’s Creative Director in his debut show for the French maison in 2023.
The Louis Vuitton x Timberland capsule collection will pre-launch online on the website, as well as on the LV App on July 18, 2024.
