Under the creative direction of Pharrell Williams, the Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter 2024 Men’s Collection illuminates the roots of the American Western wardrobe.
Ever since Louis Vuitton appointed American musician Pharell Williams as its creative director for their men’s range, elements of nature have become a common theme. For instance, William’s Spring Summer Men’s 2024 collection with was inspired solely by the Sun.
Now, with the Fall-Winter Men’s 2024 collection, Williams looked towards the canyons of Western America for inspiration. The latest collection simply embodies a true American spirit, embracing the culture and style of Native Americans. Presented in Paris, the show’s opening act was done by Ridzman Zidaine, Malaysia’s very first model to walk for the French luxury brand.
At the show, the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris is transformed through scenography embodying the Maison’s travel spirit. Illuminated by emblematic imagery of canyons and desert terrains, viewers and guests are instantly transported to the arid wild west.
Here are some of our favourite looks from the recent show.
It’s the Wild, Wild West in Paris
Evoking the iconography of the American Western wardrobe, the collection boasts many cowboy-inspired silhouettes. Approached through a country lens, suits and shirts are chain-stitched with the cacti, bucrania and bolos of Western imagery.
Workwear silhouettes transform into tailoring in vaquero jackets with hand-embroidered metallic cuivre florals, work jackets with multi-colour sunbeam beading, and suits with pinstripes or Damier chequers created through metal-studding or turquoise embellishment.
Dungarees – the jewel in the workwear crown – are celebrated in fine tailoring fabric. Western shirts amplify the yokes, rivets and floral embroideries inherent to the genre, while others appear in cowboy Monogram jacquard, cowboy lace, Western prints, or garlanded with soutache embroidery on chambray.
Workwear details are also imbued with the Maison’s heritage signatures. Punctuated by quintessential adornments and refined materials, iconic bags and accessories exude nuanced style codes of the frontier.
