Quoc Dang Tran’s Drops of God is officially back for season 2!

Based on the manga series by Tadashi Agi and illustrator Shu Okimoto, the French-Japanese live-action drama series is set in the world of winery business and tells the tale of Camille and her late father Alexandre Léger, who has left his marvellous wine collection to her.

After its worldwide debut in April 2023 on Apple TV+, the series’ first season garnered widespread praise from both critics and fans, swiftly attaining a flawless 100 per cent critics’ score and a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The extraordinary response for the initial season paved an easy path for the second part.

Season 2 will be helmed by season 1’s creator, Oded Ruskin, whose credits also include No Man’s Land and Absentia. Fleur Geffrier and Tomohisa Yamashita will return to play the roles of Camille Léger and Issei Tomine, respectively.

In the first season, we were introduced to Camille, the estranged daughter of Alexandre Léger, who was the creator of a famous Léger Wine Guide and a leading figure in oenology. However, she soon discovers that to inherit her father’s collection of wines, she must become proficient in identifying and understanding the characteristics of 13 specific wines. Otherwise, she risks losing it all to her father’s young protege, Issei Tomine.

The second season will continue the adventures of Camille and Issei. A statement from Apple TV+ and the showrunners reads: “In season two of Drops of God, Camille and Issei once again face a nearly impossible challenge: to uncover the origin of the world’s most wonderful wine, a secret that even Alexandre Léger failed to unlock.
