All We Know About The Upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’ Video Game

The upcoming Wonder Woman game has fans of the DC universe and the gaming community buzzing with excitement.

It is going to be a single-player open-world action game with an original story featuring the popular Amazonian warrior, Diana of Themyscira. Exciting to know that Diana is getting her time in the spotlight after numerous DC Comics games starring other superheroes.

For the uninitiated, a game starring Wonder Woman was announced during the Game Awards 2021. WB Games had chosen none other than Monolith Productions for this project.

When it was announced, fans got nothing more than a short teaser showing the game’s logo and the developer’s name. Today, almost three years after that announcement, we have yet to get any update on this title.

While there are nearly no official updates, there have been certain leaks that give us an idea of what this game might be like. And from all that we have heard, it is going to be a game worth the wait. Wondering why? Read everything we know about the Wonder Woman game below to find out.

‘Wonder Woman’ gameplay details and more

Monolith Productions, the developer of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, is working on this upcoming game. Before that, they worked on the acclaimed F.E.A.R. franchise, which means this studio is no stranger to making blockbuster video game titles.

A leak suggests that Monolith will be implementing the nemesis system from the Lord of the Rings titles into Wonder Woman. This is an inventive gameplay mechanic where if the player dies at the hands of some enemy, that enemy grows and becomes more powerful. The best part is that when players go and face that enemy again, they will remember the player character and berate them for losing the previous fight.

Wonder Woman will be an open-world game set in Themyscira, which will be covered by an army of mercenaries and magical creatures controlled by Veronica Cale and Circe. The nemesis system will no doubt thrive in such a setup.

All about the story of the ‘Wonder Woman’ game

As Cale and Circe try to take over the island, Diana comes back to save her fellow Amazons. Players will also face the likes of Cheetah, Silver Swan, Hercules, T. O. Morrow and Medusa.

Besides this, no story details have been confirmed for now, as it is being suggested that James Gunn will decide the direction of this game. The leak says that DC Universe is now completely under his supervision, and he will have the final say in this game’s story.

What are the release date and platforms details for the ‘Wonder Woman’ game?

As there’s no new information on this title from the developer or publisher, it is safe to assume it is nowhere near its release date. Much has changed at Warner Bros. Since this game’s announcement, Hogwarts Legacy became a massive success, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League flopped hard, and WB Games changed its strategy on how they would release new games, focusing more on live-service titles.

Maybe WB Games decided to change the Wonder Woman game into a live-service title. Or maybe they are waiting for Gunn to decide this title’s story. Whatever the reason is, it is not being released anytime soon.

As for platforms, whenever it releases, it will be available to play on all popular consoles, like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC, as WB Games does not play favourites with platforms. Here’s hoping we see it soon enough.
