For the longest time, L.A. Noire has been looked at as one of the greatest crime procedural video games ever produced. This acclaim largely has to do with its writing and gameplay mechanics which worked in tandem to provide gamers with an immersive experience. This is why, to this day, fans have been waiting for the L.A. Noire sequel to drop.
Its developer, Team Bondi, spent seven years making L.A. Noire. They built new technology that could capture even the most subtle of expressions of actors and create accurate facial animations. This technology was then implemented in the game and players could tell if a character was trying to lie or not just by its facial expressions.
When Rockstar Games published the game, it ended up being a moderate success. This success eventually led to rumours of the L.A. Noire sequel, but those ended rather quickly when Team Bondi shut shop in 2011, with Creative Director Brendan McNamara trying his hands on new (though unsuccessful) projects like Wh*re of the Orient.
Now, years after the closure of Team Bondi, some new leaks have suggested that an L.A. Noire sequel or spin-off might be in development! However, no one has confirmed this yet, as Rockstar Games is busy developing GTA 6, one of the most anticipated games of 2025, and Brendan McNamara is nowhere to be seen. But there have been leaks and so, for every fan eagerly awaiting L.A. Noire 2, here’s everything we know about the possible sequel.
‘L.A. Noire’ sequel: What could the gameplay and story be like?
Possible L.A. Noire Sequel Leak

The original L.A. Noire was an open-world game where players controlled a cop who went around solving different cases. It played like a typical open-world game, minus all the side activities and interesting NPC interactions we’ve grown to love in the likes of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
The most key aspect of playing L.A. Noire was the investigations as players had to gather clues and interrogate suspects and witnesses. They had to judge (from the information they gathered and the expressions of the characters) who was speaking the truth and who was trying to get away with lying. We are expecting the sequel to have similar gameplay mechanics.
Not to mention, these mechanics will work even better now as motion capture technology has come very far since 2011 (the animations in the original game look ancient by today’s standards). We also expect the world in this new game to be much more detailed and crowded with NPCs.
While we don’t have a clear idea about the L.A. Noire sequel’s potential story arc, leaks suggest that the developers are building upon a case that was removed from the original game.

What can we expect from the visuals?
Judging by the graphics of the first game, the L.A. Noire sequel will be a good-looking title. For the original game, Team Bondi spent years developing the motion capture technology. As such, there is no doubt that the developers of the sequel would do something similar. After all, Brendan McNamara is a man obsessed with details and will not release a game that is not on par with the most recent AAA titles.
‘L.A. Noire’ sequel release date and system requirements
As of now, there’s no confirmation on when or if this game will even be released.
If it’s not cancelled, we expect L.A. Noire to make its way to the PS5 and the Xbox Series S/X by the end of this generation. It’s important to exercise some patience as games like these take a while to be produced, especially if someone like Brendan McNamara is at the helm.
