While they have been making those games for a long time, their new Hitman trilogy is an indication that they cannot do urban espionage wrong, even if they want to. The protagonist of the Hitman series, Agent 47, is tasked with taking down a target and he is dropped in a small sandbox where he must decide how to proceed.
Player freedom mixed with incredible-level design works great. Players spend hours experimenting with the environment and numerous tools of destruction are scattered around for their convenience. This gameplay almost seems tailor-made for a James Bond title.

Unlike most popular James Bond titles released over the years, Project 007 will feature an original story. Players must work to earn their 00 status in this new title, making it the first James Bond video game to feature a 007 origin story.
Who knows, maybe the developers are planning to start a whole new franchise with this new game. After all, the James Bond movies have ended and it will be a while before the makers find a new actor to play Bond and reboot the series.
3. A unique ‘James Bond’ experience
Over the years, most James Bond games have been first- or third-person shooters, with some driving sequences and stealth mechanics that felt like an afterthought. With IO Interactive at the helm, fans can be assured that they will now see a whole new side of the British spy.
He will wear disguises, sneak around levels and use the environment to complete the given objectives. It is an IO interactive title; after all, they have been making stealth games for years.
4. No lookalikes here
Years ago, Bizarre Creations developed James Bond 007: Blood Stone. That game was part Splinter Cell: Conviction and part Gears of War rip-off and while it borrowed elements from two very different titles, it was still worth playing. Although it was an original story, it featured the likeness and voice of Daniel Craig as the titular spy.
There haven’t been many games based on this franchise that were released with an original James Bond as the lead. Recently, IO Interactive chief development officer Veronique Lallier told GamesRadar that Project 007 will not feature a lookalike but a completely original face.
5. A potential crossover
IO Interactive is working hard at making sure it delivers the ultimate spycraft fantasy. It will not be surprising if they deliver on this promise, as they have done before. As we stated above, the protagonist of the Hitman game, Agent 47, shares several characteristics with James Bond.
Hence, it will not be surprising if the developers decide to give fans a crossover between the two franchises.
‘Project 007’ release date
IO Interactive has been working on this game since its announcement back in 2020, but they have yet to announce a release date for it. We are hoping some news comes around soon enough, as four years is a long time for a game to stay in development.
Whenever it releases though, it is definitely one of our most anticipated games, right behind GTA 6.
