After New York’s fashion madness, London was next in line in the 2024 style calendar. This time, the prestigious fashion week, known for bringing glory and success to independent labels and emerging designers, celebrated its 40th anniversary.
The Fall/Winter 2024 season started with Edward Crutchley’s presentation followed by showcases from Huishan Zhang, Mark Fast, Sinéad O’Dwyer and Chet Lo. Meanwhile, Dunhill made a remarkable return, presenting its first live runway since 2020, led by its new fashion leader Simon Holloway. He was appointed the creative director at Dunhill and is known for unparalleled expertise at esteemed fashion houses such as Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors and Narciso Rodriguez.
And like always, Burberry’s showcase was one of the most anticipated events at London Fashion Week under the creative direction of Daniel Lee.

For Burberry Fall/Winter 2024, creative director Daniel Lee reimagined British classics, introducing fresh shapes, vibrant hues and an outdoorsy look to the brand. Here, coats in all forms took centre stage as the designer played with proportions, puffing them up and shrinking them down in trimmed fur, leather and nylon finishes.
The collection exuded an effortless everyday appeal, transitioning from day to night with a diverse range of elements, including pieces like pinstriped suits, sheer shirts, checkered jackets, bomber jackets, cargo pants and ripped knitwear.
Although Lee has become popular for introducing the iconic Burberry check in blue, for his third iteration, he debuted the pattern in unconventional shades such as musty browns, dim-lit yellows and eccentric reds. This departure from the traditional colour palette added a touch of eccentricity and modernity to the classic Burberry aesthetic.
Dunhill
Creative director Simon Holloway made his debut at Dunhill with the Fall/Winter 2024 collection at the London Fashion Week, spearheading the luxury label’s return to the runway after a hiatus since 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest collection can be defined as an epitome of luxury, drawing inspiration from the codes of a true gentleman.
Holloway’s vision for the brand reflected a renewed sense of elegance and refinement, setting the stage for Dunhill’s presence in high fashion. The runway witnessed a display of bespoke suits and finely crafted leather goods with a focus on layering — three-piece grey suits, shearling coats, blazers and formal jackets paired with neckties and silk accessories, turtlenecks layered with velvet dinner jackets, leather trench coats and checkered suits.
Holzweiler
Holzweiler, hailing from Oslo in Norway, marked its debut at London Fashion Week last season, immersing viewers in a jungle journey with an eco-conscious collection tailored for the outdoors. In the Fall/Winter 2024 showcase, Maria Holzweiler drew inspiration from the world of fungi and mycelium, exploring their expansive family networks through flourishing silhouettes that transcend the boundaries of nature.
One of the standout pieces featured a teal puffer jacket adorned with sheer purple undertones and feathered fungal threads, creating a captivating visual representation of the mystical world Holzweiler sought to capture. The menswear collection also featured puffer jackets in pastel and earthy tones, crewnecks, leather bomber jackets paired with trousers, fur coats and graphic printed shirts.
Ahluwalia
Designer Priya Ahluwalia honoured her African heritage by skillfully weaving Nigerian folk tales into her collection, exploring the world of mythology with outdoor-inspired motifs, ranging from enchanting trees to otherworldly beings in Ahluwalia’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection. It pays homage to Igbo culture through the utilisation of local textiles and traditional body painting techniques.
Some of the menswear highlights included bold printed knitwear, graphic t-shirts and shirts, oversized trousers and blazers and printed tank tops, in the shades of maroon, dark green, burgundy, navy blue and yellow. Additionally, the showcase also featured the label’s debut collaboration with Levi‘s, introducing three reimagined silhouettes that seamlessly blend fashion and sculpture.

Aaron Esh, the LVMH Prize finalist, solidified his status as a rising talent, making a notable debut at London Fashion Week last season. In his second runway show for Fall/Winter 2024, the designer ponders over contemporary consumption, posing thought-provoking questions in the show notes such as, “How soon is now? Does the future commence with the conclusion of the past? What defines the modernity of clothing?”
The designer presented a striking collection of refined essentials designed to withstand the test of time. Skillfully combining hoodies and blazers, the lineup seamlessly transitioned into tonal tracksuits, hooded outerwear and other sophisticated pieces.
