Two weeks of riveting tennis action has boiled down to a handful of players vying for the Wimbledon 2024 title across all categories. Even though football is likely to hog a majority of the limelight with two continental tournament finals this weekend, sports fans will make time out for Wimbledon to see who lifts the coveted silverware.

Before we talk in detail about the tournament, here are the pointers you need to keep in mind about the Wimbledon 2024 finals:

  • Dates: 13 July (women’s singles), 14 July (men’s singles)
  • Venue: Wimbledon, London, England

The oldest and (arguably) the most prestigious Grand Slam tennis tournament, Wimbledon was held for the first time in 1877. Traditionally, it is held as the third Grand Slam of the year after the Australian Open and the French Open.

Speaking of traditions, Wimbledon is the only major tournament to be played on an outdoor grass court. It is also the only competition to follow a strict all-white dress code for its players.

One of the greatest legends in tennis, Roger Federer, earned his moniker of the ‘King of Grass Court’ because of his exploits in this tournament. The former Swiss player has won a record eight titles at Wimbledon. Serbian great Novak Djokovic ranks second with seven crowns.

It is not just the honour and the trophy that the players fight for at the Wimbledon. The Grand Slam comes with a substantial payout structure. So join us as we take a look at the breakdown of the prize money pool for Wimbledon 2024, the schedule (date), the venue for the final, and live streaming details.
