Reaching Peak Productivity At Home

Although most of us have been working from home for several months, there is still room for improvement. A new study has revealed that many have not maximised the workspaces we have created in our interiors.

For instance, 41 percent of the 2,000 residents surveyed say that they do not have a proper desk. A total of 22 percent also claim that they sit on the floor when teleworking. Many have also created makeshift office spaces in the rooms they would usually relax in.  According to preferences it includes the living room (21 percent), bedroom (15 percent) and kitchen (7 percent).

Over a third of those surveyed (38 percent) know that these rooms are not the best places to get down to business. These individuals are already planning to improve their home working environment this year.

According to Adrienne Minster, CEO of Rated People, 2021 will be the year many of us improve our home-working environment. “Whether it is building a dedicated home office room in the garden, converting a cupboard, or even just upgrading your desk and chair, our environment can have such a huge impact on our health and happiness,” she adds. “Sometimes even making the smallest of changes can reduce stress and lift your mood.”

The Perfect Home Office Design Formula

The British online marketplace analysed over a hundred posts on Instagram to find the perfect home office design formula. In terms of colour choices for office walls, white is the overwhelming choice with 54 percent. Grey (11 percent) is second followed by white with a colour accent (9 percent) and green (7 percent).

When it comes to flooring, wood is the frontrunner material for a work-from-home space, particularly medium and pale woods. When not simply bare, floorboards were usually paired with a rug (25 percent) or a carpet (18 percent) to elevate your home office.
