Augustman Malaysia joined hands with Vacheron Constantin last July to connect its discerning group of gentlemen — especially watch lovers — with one of the most exclusive brands in horology.
Those in attendance included individuals from the A-List alumni, the Men Of The Year, as well as notable personalities and the magazine’s cover stars such as Tony Eusoff and Wilson Lee. Held at Colony @ The Met, the event was an all-encompassing gateway into the world of Vacheron Constantin, to familiarise audiences with the history of the watchmaker as well as its new novelties for 2024.
The event space was divided into various rooms — Egerie, Overseas & Traditionnelle, Patrimony, and the Experience Room — each to highlight the different ranges of the brand. Not only did the guests get to touch and feel the latest pieces, they also got to learn more in detail about the technical and philosophical details behind each watch, thanks to the knowledgeable staff at hand.
In the Experience Room, guests were treated to an origami taster session, led by Kenneth Chang, the founder of Origami Academy Malaysia. Through this interactive class, guests were able to learn how the most complex of patterns can come from the most simple of lines. Pretty apt, seeing how geometric sketches were the birthing marks of the brand’s masterpieces.
“This year’s theme is a perfect illustration of the creative process that transforms a watch from a scientific object into an objet d’art,” said Christian Selmoni, the brand’s style and heritage director. And by creating origami patterns of their own, the audience was able to understand how geometry can turn into art.
Not only were the latest novelties up for display (our favourite being the Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde), but there were also older yet ever-impressive models that pay tribute to years past, such as the Historiques American 1921.
At the end of the day, the A-Listers didn’t just leave with an added appreciation for horology as a whole, but also with a more intimate knowledge of the different collections on offer from the watchmaker. It’s always a great time when the A-Listers from different cohorts come together, and the day was made even better with the presence of Vacheron Constantin to further enrich our A-Listers’ knowledge!
Augustman favourites
Here’s a quick look at some of our biggest interests from Vacheron Constantin’s new novelties of 2024.
Overseas Collection in Sunburst Green
The Overseas collection saw a first when the Sunburst Green dials were introduced. Existing fans of the collection would also be treated to the lacquered, sunburst satin-finish in four models, which include the chronograph, dual time, and self-winding varieties.
Traditionelle Tourbillon Chronograph Collection Excellence Platine
This watch is dubbed ‘The Collectors’ Piece’, and is limited to a run of 50 pieces. The combination of complications alone makes it an intriguing piece, with the entirety of the movement made in-house. Its presentation is sleek too, given the real-estate required on the dial.
Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date
This new model caught our eye because not only is the retrograde date complication very legible on a watch dial, but it combines an elegant moon phase at six o’clock, with a versatile silver sunburst dial to complete the entire package.
