Skytrax’s 2024 World Airline Awards at Fairmont Windsor Park in London named Qatar Airways the ‘World’s Best Airline’ in a ceremony attended by over 300 aviation industry guests. Notably, Qatar Airways, the recipient of the ‘World’s Best Airline’ title for an unprecedented eighth time in Skytrax’s 25-year history, also won in several other categories, including the ‘World’s Best Business Class’, the ‘World’s Best Business Class Lounge’, and the ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’. The Skytrax survey of airline passengers was conducted from September 2023 to May 2024, with more than 100 countries participating.

Singapore Airlines, the flag carrier airline of Singapore, came in second, having won the world’s best airlines title in 2023. The airline also won the awards for the World’s Best Cabin Staff and the World’s Best First Class, and Best Airline in Asia. Emirates followed in third place, with All Nippon Airways in fourth and Cathay Pacific in fifth out of the 350 airlines surveyed. Cathay Pacific, the flag carrier airline of Hong Kong, also won the award for ‘World’s Best Economy Class’.
Japan Airlines and Turkish Airlines won sixth and seventh places, respectively. EVA Air, Air France, and Swiss International Airlines rounded out the top ten in positions eight, nine, and ten, respectively.
Korean Air, Hainan Airlines, British Airways, Fiji Airways, and Iberia captured the next five spots, from 11th to 15th, in the race for the world’s best airlines. Indian airline Vistara secured the 16th position and won the awards for ‘Best Airline in India/South Asia’ and ‘Best Airline Staff Service’ for India and South Asia. Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Etihad Airways, and Saudi Arabian Airlines took up the last four spots, 17th to 20th, respectively, on Skytrax’s list of the World’s Top Airlines 2024.
Ethiopian Airlines won the ‘Best Airline in Africa’ award for the sixth consecutive year, Turkish Airlines won the ‘Best Airline in Europe’ award, Fiji Airways secured the ‘Best Airline in Australia/Pacific’ award, Hainan Airlines won the award for being the ‘Best Airline in China’, and airBaltic won the award for being the ‘Best Airline in Eastern Europe’. Although not the top 20, Bangkok Airways achieved an impressive eighth consecutive win for the ‘World’s Best Regional Airline’ award.
